through your brain
your thoughts
only defense against how you act
for or against
etching their way into my laws
how do you protect me
my better interest
when
all you go by
is beliefs of a dead man

everything you possess
is based upon your religion
'n yet you still claim to have my interest at heart
but
in truth
you only seek protection
for those who think
'n believe as you
if my thoughts

aren't as yours are
then i am breaking the law
b/c
i take to heart
the freedom
i was told i possess
to think
'n feel
'n believe
outside of a box
you try to pack us away in
you take away my freedoms
b/c they don't coincide
with what your preacher
sermonized to truth
lies
for your feeble mind
to sleep upon
you read the constitution
like some great document
you're sworn to uphold
but
tell me
just tell me
whatever happened
to the separation of church and state?

another of my bible thumpers ,religious hypocrites need to stop and think and open their minds to see their other people in this world, not willing to follow what they preach

I believe as you do - each to their own. Funny how the ones with all the "beliefs" can't seem to offer the same to us in return. Very powerful with very valid points. Congrats on a piece well written! Perhaps read my "Adam Screwed Us All" similar tones.
