The Measure Of You

This moment of reminisce

could not capture all that

would fill a thousand pages

in thought of you

Kindness never wearied

nor fastened by boundary

toward all who touched

upon your company

For unending was care

found in such overflow

Limitless we became

within each embrace

and guidance granted us

fiber to find strength

Charm never far from

eye's twinkle gave glow

to presence always

lightened by your laughter

And so it is...

that no greater treasure

is gifted than the hope

to have but a mere

measure of your heart

I knew this had to be about someone who was very important to you, with the words you used. I wrote about my grand father too, but you captured it all in many fewer words. Very touching and heart warming tribute to someone who must have been a very great man.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. This is a very beautiful tribute to your grandfather. I love all of the metaphors.

    I love this phrase especially:
    "and guidance granted us
    fiber to find strength"

Isn't that what grandparents are all about? Giving their wisdom and guidance so that we are better prepared for the world.

    Thank you for sharing,
    -Garrett

What a wonderful tribute for one so dear. Passing a cycle of life does not lessen loss as rememberance of shared moments strengthen lives to treasure the length of love he left tied to the hearts who knew him. The bottomless cup he poured to give all those to take sip of his life and left laughter on the wind to be listened for. The flow and heartfelt emotion you mold to the reader and all accept what a gift to have been with.

    You always write well,
and this is no exception - it's an amazing tribute.

I love the title you know, because it makes me think of immeasurable worth.

That first stanza is just perfection; what you have captured was worth capturing.

    "fiber to find strength"
    That was
    incredibly
    strong.

I don't think I need to say anything else, Jacks.
