we lie down together
in the gutter of life
which is not to say
we have been kicked to the curb
rather
that we choose
to be different
we choose to count stars
and dream of far away places
while i make wishes
on your lost eyelashes
if not for you
then for myself
the stars of souls
that try to take us
where we need to be
if only we opened ourselves up
enough
stars of broken sunshine
gather in the distant atmosphere
reminding me that i probably left the light on
at home
and how
if i tried to think of a time
that i was happy
i could go way back
to when i counted them
out the back window
and wished for things like
you

Aw, this was simply a gorgeous write!!! I loved it.
I have some of my favorite parts in this, one of them was:
we have been kicked to the curb
rather
that we choose
to be different
we choose to count stars
and dream of far away places

This was so creative, and you did this quote justice, it is a good quote after all. And I think you really brought out that flavor in this, you expressed the quote well.
