"Let there be light."
Genesis 1:3
Then God SAID, ...
"Let us make
man in our image."
Genesis 1:26
If God created the world
with words that He spoke,
as the Bible states in Genesis 1:3,
and we were created in
His image, as the Bible states in
Genesis 1:26,
then what are we creating
with the words that we speak?
I discovered the reason I always seemed stressed,
was because of the words I always confessed.
God gave us the power through words that we speak,
to face every challenge, to never be weak.
So, choose your words wisely, choose your words well,
be careful about all the words that you tell.
God set the example, God showed us the way,
to create what we want with words that we say.
Author notes
Closing thoughts: I find it very interesting in Genesis that God "spoke" the world into existence. Why would it be written that way? Why would God speak? Who was He talking to? Obviously God could "think" the world into existence, it doesn't make sense to say, "and God said" ... or does it? Could it be, He was giving us the example of what to do? How do you feel today? Tired and busy, stressed and confused? ... or Ready and Refreshed, Renewed and excited? It is simply a choice... in the words that you speak.
Guess what? ... the Bible also says, "The mountain before you will move, if you TELL it to move, and BELIEVE it to be true." Why would you have to "tell" it to move? Because of the creative power in your words.
Guess what? ... we also need to "speak" our salvation. Isn't it time you accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior? Why not use the awesome gift God has given you and speak out loud your faith and belief in Him. Speak your place in heaven. Speak your salvation. Say the words that are in your heart. God created the world with His words, we create our eternity with our words. What will yours be? Jesus is the Word. Now, go TELL the world.

Yes, words do matter. Words come from our thinking. Our attitudes and desires will come out in what we say in one way or another. So I beleive if we work on right thinking, right speaking will come automatically.

-
Very nice, never seen the verses incorporated before.

Wow, you've made a believer out of me, good luck to you in the contest-lots of love

This reminds me of what Jesus said...it is not what a man takes into his body that defiles him, but what comes out of him that defiles him...
as in what a person SAYS, so I think we do have great power in our tongue, what we say comes from the heart, whether good or bad.
I think I'll tell that mountain to MOVE,
This was wonderful and very thought provoking.

Did he say
Did he say Kevin let there be poetry and put all these words in your mind to share with the world.God bless you.Whoops to late.He already did

I don't know what to say to that, but that i have learned to listen (er... pay attention) to the Holy Spirit - Kevin

Very cool! I really like the way you did this and the thought behind it. Definitely takes a different perspective on a very familiar story. Will keep this in mind. Thank you.

-
Very interesting!
I loved the Biblical examples given in the beginning and how you ended the poem in a rhyming explanation.
Great Work!
God Bless,

I liked this one, and I thought the ending was really interesting and the explanation also helped. Thanks for sharing!

thanks
most miss the fact that God spoke the world into existance... why would He do that? He obviously could "think" the world into existance, but He didn't... that leaves me pondering why... hopefully it gains us some insigts as well - Kevin

Awesome underlying story WDM! I love your writing style and could stand to learn alot from you. I am mostly a rhyming poet, yet stray sometimes from rhyme. I always come back, like the prodigal poet.
I have added you to my favorites, because I will definitely be back!

ironic
that you picked the ONE poem I have that doesn't rhyme. I, like you, always come back to rhyming. That is what I seem to know how to do. Feel free to read and comment on as many as you like. Any ideas, no matter how small, or semingly nit-picky will be welcomed. I am here to improve, not get showered with praise (although that part is fun as well). I appreciate your time and enthustic response. "If you call me a poet, I won't disagree, but inside I will cringe, cause I know that's not me" - I still have trouble admitting I'm a poet, but... here I am... this is what I do. (this is what God called me to do - despite my arguments otherwise). thanks - Kevin

WOW!
I never thought of speaking like you have described. But all you say is true. God was and is our example. Our tongues can hurt and they can soothe. It is up to us to make the decision on which way we choose. Words can hurt deeply and take a long time to get over, if ever. Bruises will go away, but words last a lifetime. We need to be consicious of this and be more careful of what we say to others. This is a wonderful poem attesting to that fact. May God Bless you my friend. Your friend in Poetry, Mysty Rain P.S. You have chosen the right user name for yourself, because I can see that you are a true believer in "Words Do Matter."

thanks
for your enthusiastic response... yes... it is true, Words Do Matter. Check it out, in the Bible, when God says the mountain before you will move... it actually says, "if you say to the mountain.... and believe it to be true"... now, why would you have to "Say" it? Because your words are a creative force. There is an awesome book (I see you like books) out there called "Hung by the Tongue" it opens your eyes (it did mine). Hey, if you get a chance, another one about the words you speak, and the power God gave us (in spiritual warfair)... go read "The Party's Over" I think you will like it. God bless, and Merry Christmas - Kevin

Outstanding ...
When I write, I filter everything that I say through the numero uno golden rule, because as you have stated;- It is a sincere matter of choice ... Because as well I know through my abandonment of this principal, and through the way that I was reared up, words do so much matter, they have the power to heal, or kill.
God bless you for following your heart dear friend. I look forward to reading more of you.
