It wasn't what was said that led
to what one might suspect
but rather what was left unsaid
- the usual suspects, the bed –
that led to the suspicions read
between the lines by those who fed
the scandal with their own foul breath
that left no corner of the bed
unmade though it was in their head.
Author notes
I know it's generally spelled with two "n"s but I found support for it being spelled with one, as well: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=inuendo plus I wrote it thinking it was spelled with one.
