Assignment

A Prairie Sunset
  By: Walt Whitman

Shot gold, maroon and violet, dazzling silver, emerald, fawn,
The earth's whole amplitude and Nature's multiform power consign'd
for once to colors;
The light, the general air possess'd by them--colors till now unknown,
No limit, confine--not the Western sky alone--the high meridian--
North, South, all,
Pure luminous color fighting the silent shadows to the last.

A Luminous Friendship
By: Crazy-Love

Blast true, loyal and kind, amazing honesty, golden, simple,
The friend’s whole essence and Her multitude of power revealed
for single to see;
The light, the general air lingered on her—colors until now mysterious,
No limits, detain—not the Friendship love together—the great bond—
Highs, Lows, all
Pure dazzling sight showing the best features to the one.

A Clear Midnight
By: Walt Whitman

THIS is thy hour O Soul, thy free flight into the wordless,
Away from books, away from art, the day erased, the lesson done,
Thee fully forth emerging, silent, gazing, pondering the themes thou
lovest best.
Night, sleep, and the stars.

An Apparent Novice
By: Crazy-Love

THIS is my day in heart, my free journey from the enclosure,
Away from foes, distant to all, the hours gone, the time over,
Myself wholly onward bound, quiet, observing, wondering the ways they
like finest.
Breath, silence, and the thought

Author notes

Okay, so you can Understand this better I'll fill you in. I had to pick a Poem written by either Walt Whitman or Emily Dickinson, and I picked Walt, obviously; for my english class. Then we were to write our own poem and mimic how the other is. For example if they use a noun I am supposed to use a noun, and Adj. for and Adj. and its supposed to have the same number of parts of speech and everything. I thought it was a pretty cool assignment. *and by the way, the first two go together, they are supposed to be side by side, (but I can't do that), then the last two are to be the same* Hope you enjoy!

Tell me what you think.

    Well Done

I agree with the other's that commented. Not much more to say. I really like your second poem as well. A real feeling of freedom, and the beginning of possible self discovery. Good write!

    Interesting

I'm going to have to agree with the last comment, 'An Apparent Novice' is the better of the two. On its own it is a very good write in my opinion. When compared to Walt tho... well lets say that not many people can compare to him. You did a very good job tho and I applaud you for your effort. The idea of this assignment was rather interesting in my opinion, I'm glad you decided to take part in it.

Hey not bad. Some of the language may have been weaker than the original poets but it was pretty great. I think 'An Apparent Novice' was probably the better of the two. It has a nice air to it, a feeling of peace and liberty. The second line, is written really well, I like the way you sorta set it free; the idea of moving away from all that holds you down. Way cool:
