Two Worlds

a chubby girl
throws her ice-cream
unfinished business

on a distant land,
a starved mother
saves the roti for her son

as TVs and speeches proclaim
a globalized world,
sea of equal opportunity

somewhere, far away
a faint call of inequity
is silently brewing
like the tsunami...

    Keen observation

I had the opportunity to visit India in 2002, and there the contrast between rich and poor is striking. A young mother approached me in Jaipur with only two words I understood, "chapati, baby" and I gave her all the change in my pocket.

This contrast is observable world-wide, if we will look beyond our own doorsteps. Rhetoric may glow, but that does not bring heat and food to the hungry. I love the last stanza, "a faint call of inequity" and the rising wave, silent and potent.

It seems to me that punctuation is not needed, the line breaks speak for you. Overall, a good and thought provoking poem. Best wishes to you!
