.
If I make it through the long dark days without you,
I'll take a hammer to the ice around your heart
And rouse you from your unplanned hibernation.
If you're still here and still need me around,
I'll put my lips to yours and breathe for you.
If I can live this month of night alone
I'll warm your hands, rub your fingers,
Massage your heavy, aching limbs.
If I survive the winter, I will feed you,
Bring you a steaming bowl of soup
Let the vapors clear your head,
Let the flavours nourish your soul.
If you can make it through this slumber,
While the world
- adorned in light and music -
Fails to see you,
I'll be here.
