Carpenter Dad

Since I was young, and presently
Dad, you’ve always been a dear to me.
You taught me how to truely see
The truth about mankind.

And in your attempts to educate,
I learned to argue and debate
For your hope in me was to create
My own free piece of mind.

Now all my thanks is for you pop,
For telling me to never stop,
And building my ladder to the top,
While I stayed close behind.

This poem is about one of the most important people in the world to me. Ever since I was very young, he always taught me things that most kids my age never knew. When my friends were learning about, for example, different diseases in different countries, I was not only learning the science of it all, but also the political, and cultural aspects. My father has always been the kind of person to promote open-mindedness and wisdom. He has been such a great person to me over the years, that he has actually inspired me to go to university and study Environmental Biology! Many times we have discussed politics and environmental issues, and the way they intertwine, while he showed how important these things are in society. My dad is my inspiration when it comes to knowledge, and he continues to show me ways I can do my part in helping the world.
