Princess Nana

Nana,
he sang, and it was angels
that fell out of that boy's
mouth. Nana, and she
swooned over the
strawberries
and the cream for good
measure. Nana, and the
blanket
went flying over the picnic
table, hands too soon occupied
with shady curls, a prince's crown and
her royal blue socks. Her smile
was tanned perfection, so he said
Nana, and the perfection
smiled back at him. With sun-setting
lashes and emerald eyes, it was
Nana, and smiles, and scones, and
jam. His grin only
faded when Nana said
she was
a man.
