On the camera,
there’s a smile on her face.
She looks happy.
But if you look closer,
you see the emotion in her eyes.
The raw anguish and pain
that is hidden under her fake smile.
On the camera,
she seems fine.
You would never know
that she’s barely holding on.
The camera lens
doesn’t show how hard
it is for her just to get
out of bed in the morning.
On the camera,
you see the rehearsed
façade she puts on everyday.
You wouldn’t know
that with every
“I’m fine,”
she dies a little
more inside.
On the camera,
you see a lie.
