she had a strong reaction to death
her pulse would quicken
heart leap inside chest
facial muscles twitch
she would cover her mouth
and her body would
shake
as she laughed
riding wave after wave
of a mad streak

you've penned this wonderfully...it actually leaves chills as I think of that horrible moment when we're told someone has died...it hits everyone so differently. Well done

Beautiful take on the prompt. We all react differently to the vision of death. Great write!

Intense, with a jolt. Perfect tone that maintains a simplicity of power without taking away from the meaning, hits like bricks.

Our response to death is always problematic. It is the one eternal real and unshakable truth. But in death a rest, a ceasing of our labors -- that much at least. But what comes after? Ah, the plot thickens.
Well done. Good luck.
