The Death of Santa

Once upon a time a long time ago
Twas said a kindly little elf all dressed green
Would every year give gifts to the children
Upon a special December day
Then he'd smile, laugh(ho ho)
an watch the happy children play

Everyone would gather as he left the happy town
His magic sleigh of reindeer flew up off the ground
The sound of tinkling bells could be heard everywhere
and all the people in the land would tell each other they really  care
Such a wonderful time of sweet memories for a child
The day Ol Saint Nick showed generosity with style

Times became long and many things have changed
they even gave Santa a red suit to match a company logo
Now everything is about getting the best or better
and Jonney wants a present of such a terrible cost ..He said it in a letter
No more lists of naughty and nice... cause nice just didn't sit
If Jonney didn't get what he wanted he would dance a fit

They killed Santa Clause the other day ..just shot him in the head
and everyone just didn't care that Santa Clause was dead
For the world and all its children got things all the time
and the special time of Christmas was just another sale at Macys
And many could not afford
So love and understanding were slowly dying too

The story of Santa is just a sweet corporate myth
and all the talk about peace and love is a fantasy as well
For we all now are practical ..magic just doesn't exist
Yep we all know its true
So cry a little tear for the Santa of days of old
We now know that his story was just another lie

and reality has become so cold ....like snow
Yo Ho Ho Merry Christmas ..see you all at KMart

Got yah checkbooks with yah.. the sale starts today

a deep insight into the reality...the commercialization has killed the spirit of Christmas...

Well, there is a certain truth to this, fine writing aside, that much of what we see and hear about Christmas is just corporate hype and retail-sponsored greediness (and not just by children!) But cynicism is a snake that bites its own tail. We also have to look at all the people who year after year give up their Christmas to serve meals to the homeless and elderly, to children who give their gifts to the poor, to families who decide to give only gifts they have made themselves. And more,we should turn to the sick, the lonely, the broken-hearted, who could use our time and attention, not material gifts, during this season when the TV makes it look like everyone else is happy because of costly gifts! I will be celebrating my Christmas in a nursing facility with my partner who is quite ill, and I will cherish every moment of joy we have on that special day! May you have many blessings this holiday season, and throughout the year.

This is a very truthful poem..I agree that now a days it is all greedyness children think that is the one time a year they can ask anything for christmas no matter how expensive...I really do like the truth and reality that you put into this it was fantastic and good flow as well
