Do Elephants Smile?

Missing image
With trunks and tusks and serious style
It’s hard to know if elephants smile.
But under their trunks out to the tip
Elephants have a long upper lip.
Since they possess this physical quirk,
Couldn’t they sneer or secretly smirk?

The Elephant smiles to see a rose
    Beneath its rhubarb tree
A rose loves manure as everyone knows
And that is why you see!

I wrote this while watching some elephants at the St. Louis Zoo. I had always heard that they were smart, but they can be quite playful too!

Congrats on the gold. These witty nuggets of yours, presented in short, neat, rhythmic, rhyming packages, are a pleasure to read and contemplate, presenting perspectives on things that most would never bother even thinking about (and what could be better than that?)

If I had a nose that was six feet long
with flexible muscles, round and strong,
I'd sit on the couch while watching TV
and use that big conk for sipping iced tea,
but having two tusks, if such was the case,
would bollix up kissing with pokes to the face!

Congratulations on the well deserved Gold!
