The warm summer breeze caught her hair
like a child playing tig
beneath a powder blue sky fingers laced
they walked, laughed and kissed
A kiss of pure love
that came from a beautiful romance
in a meadow of scented flowers
they shared a lovers dance
Back home in his arms
peacefully she lay
her cheeks wore a soft blush
a loving smile graced her face
Reliving the moments
they had shared together
memories she knew would stay
lasting them forever
Tenderly he kissed her
his heart was heavy and dark
although she didn't know it
he was soon to part
That night he caressed her
took her to new heights
loved her like he'd never loved before
he held her so tender but so tight
He watched her sleeping
beautiful, loved and content
knew this was the last moment
together they'd ever spend
Gently he lent over her
kissed her soft flushed cheek
made a promise to her
their love he'd always keep
Tucked away safely
within his tender heart
keeping her with him
even though they'd be apart
Silently like a whisper
down the stairs he crept
closing the door behind him
broken, gently he wept
Crying for his true love
his lover, his best friend
trapped by circumstance
he knew it had to end

Now consumed by darkness
the days seemed so long
alone in the world
she tries for him to stay strong
Tears streak her cheeks
so drawn and so pale
her heart thumps with the sobs
to no avail
Nothing can take away
the splintering pain she's feeling
on her knees into the twilight
she calls for him; screaming
Holding onto the heart
he gave her as a gift
to signify their love
that they sealed with a kiss
Longing to touch him
to stand fingers laced by his side
she clings to their memories
keeping their love alive
Recalling all the fun they had
the tears and the laughter
how they promised they would always be
come what may - no matter
"Remember me my love," she whispers
as she drifts off, a tear runs down her cheek
meeting the man she adores again
they dance in a meadow sweet

Such a sad a beautiful piece, Sugar - that show us the power of dreams at the end - as this heart broken women will at least be able to be with the man of her dreams in her sweetest dreams - dancing and romancing - joyfully - in a meadow sweet. OMG SUG, this is beautifully sad, moved me to tears to feel such pain when a love one has to go. How you do play the memories back trying to keep the love alive. Your last stanza is haunting, yet beautiful...I could feel all of this so so emotional. well done. All the best
