My Daddy isn’t coming home for Christmas

Each night I watched from my window.
Reflecting Christmas lights off the snowflakes,
all seemed red, white and blue.
It all seemed so magical, but sadly it was without you.

My head down, tears dropped to the floor…
My Daddy wasn’t coming home for Christmas,
as he died in a distant war.

Though so sad, my spirits seemed so low.
But there were some words my daddy always said,
it brought a smile to my face and an upraised head.
Great warmth in my heart and all suddenly would glow.

My dearest precious little one, for I will always be.
Those special moments filled with laughter,
drinking hot cocoa, while decorating our Christmas tree.

Holiday music, fire gleaming bright,
dancing and singing on Christmas Eve night.
Tucking you in with many hugs and a gentle kiss,
my gift of love from my heart is one you’ll always reminisce.

Even if I am swept away, by the grace of God night, or day.
Forever I’ll protect you, be at your side each time you pray.

Each night I watched from my window.
Reflecting Christmas lights off the snowflakes,
all seemed red, white and blue.
It all seemed so magical, but sadly it was without you.

My head down, tears dropped to the floor…
My Daddy wasn’t coming home for Christmas,
as he died in a distant war.

Good morning Lady D Thank you for your wonderful thoughts and applauses! It is sad so many children are without their Mom or Dad because of war or any reaason, not to mention the families and all others that are effected by life's harsh ways. I always appreciate your words of inspiration, thank you, Merry Christmas, Ken IBT
