I WISH FOR A FISH (to honor my dish)

I've been fishing here all day,
Many hours here I've spent, I'd say,

Hoping to honor tonight's dinner dish,
With a big ol fat, healthy fish,

With a worm upon my hook,
I caught a soggy book,

A sock, a clock, a boot,
A stuffed poodle, wet but cute,

A tire with a hole,
On the end of my new pole,

A six pack of soda cans,
Nice, though not in my plans,

I only want to catch a fish,
Just one small fish, for this I wish,

Instead I caught a plant,
Cook and eat a plant, I can't,

I cast out my line again,
Slowly reeling it back in,

This time there's nothing on the hook,
No sock, no clock, no fish to cook,

I know they must be there,
In search of food, somewhere,

Again I try, a fish this time?
A bass, a trout, or more lake slime?

An awful lot of trash I've caught,
But a Fish for my Dish, I have not,

    Good Rhyme

Well, we can't win 'em all. It's days like this that make the ones with successful catches feel so good!

    Clever

I enjoyed the simplicity of this poem, it isn't epic. I know most people can relate to the defeat one experiences when they reel in anything but a fish.
