Disenchanted Lullaby for a stricken lover

the roar of the door
was thunder in her ears
another night, too many tears
she's so done with those damned tears
gun in hand, just for her man,
tonight he'll know that she knows
it will be hers, and it will be intoxicating
years of loyalty dissipating into hateful reverence,
the spell has now been broken,
like her heart, her soul

Yes, I agree with moonlitmirror ! That's exactly what I was thinking when I read this !!

The emotion is apparent, and i love how you ended it. It just kind of wrapped up everything, no explanation even needed there !

Thanks for entering and best of luck !
[and i have to thank you for actually following the rules ! there are many that i have to disqualify because they entered extremely LONG prewrites -sigh- lol]

ooo...this brings to mind the quote "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned"

I like how you use the word "intoxicating"--that pretty much captures the entire essence of it. It's like they lose the rational part of themselves, but they can still think in calculated ways.

    Great job, good luck!
