I am Jacks’ slow evasive and hypocritical ecstasy.
Under midnight’s skin, down past spindles of chemicals
Where trains wreck and ships sink
Amongst those famous last words
And the obscurity of disbelief
In the same breath of morning pale
Eggshells lay scattered upon well-behaved women
A bit of pressure makes a mess of flouting melodies
Knowing it’s a love story, but there are classroom rules
Focus now on the chorus of body language
And how to disappear completely
It was one crowded hour, with something in the way
Monsters muddle in between the days
Then it came from nothing at all
Doing one thing by inner quarrel
And another by the blood and sugar it spilled
Through lips like sex and steel
There are no wishes and heroes in the sky
If you stand up the merry will go round
Your pockets once full, will now be empty like a starless night
The streets you’ll wander down won’t be called desire
And in those last seconds as the sun sets
It will be unlikely we’ll ever meet again.
