can she wait?

sad child

All she wanted was rice and beans

and her mother's embrace,

but I couldn't bear the thought

of sparing change to an innocent soul.

After all, I need my morning Starbuck's

and Macy's is having a sale.

She can wait...

Brillance in just a few words; makes me think of Phil Collins song 'Another Day in Paradise'

Excellent word use, strong, and emotive

  • Very powerful. We do not like to be reminded of how lucky we are in this country and how much poverty there is for the world's children.

I like how it makes you think about how people treat others even when they are well off in life. I must say that i would have liked it to be longer but it was very inspirational none the less. Great job!

One of the rules of my contest was no depressing poetry. I'm sorry, but I have to DQ.

    Superb plus

Ah, a most poignant write, indeed, and very well said. Reminds me of my own series on the Homeless. Just check my lists, on my Profile Page, if you would like to read any of them.

    Powerful, as always.
Especially since I splurged and went to Starbucks today.

I love how it says "She can wait." I know that's what people think, they think that stuff like this can wait, when in reality it can't wait.

    Very well done.
