Incendiary Mary

Hi Sweetroses. I am sorry to hear that you are sad. I hope this silly little poem I wrote makes you chuckle. It's one of those strange kind that makes you laugh as much at the author as at his poem, lol. I hope you smile and feel free to shake your head and ask, "What is wrong with that guy?" lol

Teddy Bears-everywhere,
as far as the eye can see.
Lined throughout the house-
From cellar to chimney.

Harry Berry at Christmas-
Scarry Harry at Halloween.
Illness brought Fuzzy Wuzzy,
St. Patrick's meant one green.

So many Teddies around her-
Hardly could she breathe-
No freedom, no respite-
"Just Teddies!"--she would grieve.

Teddy Bears everywhere-
tied with twine and thread.
Little Mary lit a match-
and watched the flame glow red.

Teddy Bears everywhere-
Smoking up the house-
Crawling up the curtains-
A fire they could not douse.

Little Teddies everywhere-
Flames now in the walls.
"Ashes, ashes, all fall down,"
Our little Mary calls.

"Teddy Bears, Everywhere!"
Even in her padded cell.
The Orderlies pay no mind to her-
Its a phrase they know so well.

I would have remembered this! I have to visit your Jenny on Fire list. Is nothing sacred???!!! LOL

I guess poor Mary got creeped out by those scarey "beary" stares. They sleep with their eyes open too. They're like little furry gnomes. Okay, now I don't blame her for torching them.

Congratulations on your gold, Yem. May I hold it?

*smile* Oddly I don't think that there is anything weird about this poem. I really like it. I have so many teddy bears, big ones, small ones, tall ones, short ones. . . sometimes I would like to take a match to them myself, lol. And the funny part is that I didn't buy any of them myself. People just give them to me. And they think that I just love teddy bears because I have so many of them. I'm not saying I hate them, because some are rather cute, but they do start to take up a lot of space after a while. Thank you for entering this. It really cheered me up.

It's like my mom. Somehow people got to thinking she likes tea and so every holiday they buy her tea, lots and lots of tea, and she drinks maybe one cup a month, lol

Maybe we should stuff the bears with tea and torch them.

    oh wow,
    this is amazing.
it has such an interesting twist - when i first started reading the poem it made me so happy and i was smiling away, only to be horrified and upset. you truly capture the reader with this write.
i'm not normally a fan of rhyming poems, but this is excellent. your rhyme really helps with the flow of the piece and doesn't appear at all forced.
    intese imagery thoughout too!
    an excellent poem, well done!!
