If she looked out the window she'd see there were no stars.

Suddenly the sanctuary
was safe no longer.
The bite of frosty air
and frosty eyes
clung to hair and skin.
She felt small and alone
while the colorful tapestries
looked down upon her.
The tall windows were dark.

In the end there were no pearly gates, no trumpets. When she opened her eyes she saw a beach stretching off into the horizon. Crystal waves lapped at the shore, leaving behind perfectly shaped shells. And He was there, lounging in a beach chair, feet resting in the surf of a tide that never seemed to change. "Welcome to Heaven," He said.

I must admit that it caught my attention from the start...but it keeps me wondering what happened to her to begin with to be stuck where she was... Saddened because of these lines "She felt Small and alone while the colorful tapestries looked down upon her. The tall windows were dark." I was happy to find that in the end she was with her mate...a great write.
