I can see the sky above me
With it's beauty beyond compare
Tepee's off in the distance
And wild horses everwhere
I'd like to catch that brown one
He looks so strong and fast
Then I can try to ride him
If he lets me walk in his path
I think I could make friends with him
If I tackle this very slow
I'll get some grains to feed to him
Yep, that's the best way to go
When he lets me touch him
I'll stroke his mane with care
And touch his back so tenderly
Brush his tail with a flair
When I have made a friend of him
I'll ask him if I can have a ride
He can take me where he will
For he'll be an excellent guide
It's best to get permission
From a horse before you ride
They have a mind all of their own
You may end up just walking by his side

Wow this is really a nice write. Takes me back to being a silly child when we used to bareback ride any horses we befriended in a field. Kids and horses still go together all through the ages.

Thank you Littlemoon. I'm glad my poem took you back to your childhood days, that's a wonderful place to visit from time to time.

So true and such great advice to those who
have never ridden a horse before. They are indeed such beautiful and majestic creatures.
Lovely work here and good luck to you!

Thank you Jeremy, aren't horses just a great animal. It's been many, many years since I have been on a horse, but I think they are wonderful animals.
