Caressing the soft round bump
Which has overlapped my tummy
My heart fills with joy; a lump
Catches in my thoat; I stare lovingly
At the roundness who will call me 'Mummy'
Smiles shared fleetingly with my love
Tender touches from heart to heart
Our baby'll be beautiful as a dove
And when the painful contractions start
It'll all be worthwhile; love shoots like a dart
And when I'm finally cradling my baby
Protecting it in my sinewy, cosy arms
Maybe once in a while; sometimes maybe
I'll think upon this love, and feel calm:
Thinking I'll forever keep my child safe from harm.

This is beautiful. I love the gentle flow of the words and the rhyming is excellent. Stunning imagery too. The perfect poem for a baby shower competition. Lots of luck in it!
