I stand on parade proud and tall
I heard last night the final call
The flag that dropped down to half mast
Of all my friends he was the last
I stand on parade as he's carried by
I'll stay strong real men don't cry
But he was a good man who fell to fate
He's gone now past the final gate
So i will watch him as he's borne
Beneath the ground i will not mourn
I knew he died in duty good
If i die i hope that i could
Save as many as he did that day
A hero he's called with burned torn beret
And now he's gone I'll fight on
In memory of my friend who shone
I'll stand here on parade with pride
For a friend so brave, so brave he died
He is gone my friend goodbye from all
I will remember you i will stand tall
I stand here on your last parade
Rest now dear friend in the eternal glade
Author notes
war will always be evil no matter the reason for it. Death will not solve death.
