This mental and emotional anguish is like a creature,
eating her from the inside until it slowly breaks through.
Its only language deafening screams that fill her thoughts,
only silenceable on the outside temporarily by physical pain.
At first it looks like an accident no harm done,
but like the creature they will steadily grow to be more.
Maybe its only unnoticeable cat scratches in the beginning,
slowly they will grow in number and depth as time wears on.
After a while the control she felt will be reversed,
like narcotics the high will begin to control her.
She'll count the moments until she can use again,
it may not be illegal but the ecstacy she gets from the blade should be.
Then one night a few months in when she's alone,
she sits on the edge of her bed her tears hitting the razor.
All she has to do is cut a little deeper this time,
she gives in and the blood runs down her wrist.
She whispers one last plea, "just make the pain stop."

Haha I just realized I commented before.

Wow the last line is very powerful, it gave me chills. It weird to know that something that hurts you could give such a release. I hope you have stopped.
-
I kinda get this sorta thing...but since I have never done it or felt the need to, my understanding only goes so deep (no pun intended). I could relate to the pain in this piece. It is true that we all owe it to ourselves to find a healthy way to work through it. I wish nothing but the best for you...peace and light, kp

It does seem a little too blunt, but I suppose that's the point.
-
I have been here myself...I cut for years. It does become an addiction, and its hard to break, there are times I still feel tempted to do it. People often see it as a problem affecting only teenagers, but that's not the case.

this is a very painful write to read from you. not being a cutter, i don't understand that part but i do understand the pain that goe with it. thank you for sharing this with me today and i am looking forward to reading more from you in the near future. viyanna rosemarie

I found that once I stopped cutting and poking...some of the pain went away.
Albeit I still felt like shit and hated myself, but people stopped calling me emo.
(Look...if you're cutting yourself you're hurting for nothing. You're feeding the childish hate this is all derived from. Work out...deal with social situations, become a functioning member of society. (whatever society you choose) Cutting won't get you this, but both are pretty painful.)
Only one will get you to a better place. The other is useless. -
I absolutley loved the last line, it really got me.

I liked this piece.
I can relate to self harming from a few friends doing it.
"Then one night a few months in when she's alone,
she sits on the edge of her bed her tears hitting the razor.
All she has to do is cut a little deeper this time,
she gives in and the blood runs down her wrist.
She whispers one last plea, "just make the pain stop.", loved this bit. Really emphasises that the world is full of pain aswell, well the entire poem does...but, yeah xDD. -

It's okay... I'm not saying it isn't good. But it does feel forced.
In any case, I like the subject and I truly like your style. Perhaps you can read some of my poems and tell me what you think? I'd like that.
-
I think that this is in my top 3 best.
-
I dont think that you need to edit it, I think it is fine like it is. Maybe you should put it up for revision if you think you dont like it but I liked it.

-

It feels forced. -
