Letter from a Chaplain...part 1

She stands at the door
and watches him leave
He's joining the military corps
she knows she wont decieve

6 months later

She waits for his letter
she's at the post office
she should know better
but she's under stress

He sits in his tent
waiting for what?
his mind's been bent
he saw his best friend shot

He goes onto the field
and crouches down low
he suddenly feels
theres something he doesn't know

She's in the waiting room
waiting for her name to be called
she suddenly feels gloom
and time suddenly stalled

As he awakes in darkness
there are sounds all around
as he opens his eyes
he relizes he's on the ground

She hears the screams of pain
She can feel his breathing decline
see's his head, hung in shame
as he's forced to stand in line

He's chained to a wall
he's thinking about his wife
everything seems so small
he doesn't worry about his life

She looks back up
tears streaming down her face
she says "I've had enough"
and heads back to her place

He's standing there against the wall
getting himself prepared
he's ready for it all
but its a mystery why he's even there

She's sitting in her living room
with the lights off
like her destined tomb
when she hears a knock

He's waiting for anyone
someone hands him a gun
and they say with smite
"do yo want to end your life?"

She walks slowly to the door
she sees the chaplain
no one more

**************************************
and he hands her the letter

omg this was not what i expecting, i thought the female character would be pregnant, and the male would die at war, not that he would be captured and tortured, wow, sad but unique in a spine chilling way, it made me cry, great poem, best of luck in the contest
