Until something devastating hits us,
Ourselves, and our own lives seem to be the focus.
We don't pay attention, we get tired and spaced,
Sometimes oblivious to what people have faced.
How many people do we pass up the street,
Knowing nothing about them, as if covered by a sheet?
Cemeteries are usually considered desolate, gloomy and cold,
When, really, they portray stories of life- ones who lived to be young, and ones who lived to be old.
Did anyone care about them, ever?
To some, truly caring is far too much to endeavor.
Putting others first should be a way of life,
Jesus was a perfect example of putting aside His own pain and strife.
Instead of blurring faces together and being indifferent,
Display the love that God gives, which is truly important.

My friend, Meredith, wrote her thoughts in a blog about things that she realized while she was driving home one day. She explained that we seem to get so caught up in our own lives, that we don't stop to think about others very often. Of course that is not our intention, but it is an issue that we continually need to deal with every day of our lives. Her words were very inspiring to me, so asked her if I could write a poem about what she wrote. These are some of her ideas, thoughts, and words. I just put it together to rhyme. =] I hope you enjoy it!
