Just because
I'm not a girl
Doesn't mean I haven't
Had my share of abuse
Just because
I'm not a child
Doesn't mean I am not
Fragile enough to cry
Just because
We've been abused
Doesn't always mean
We understand
Just because
I'm not crying now
Doesn't mean that
Next time I won't be
Just because
I'm still here
It doesn't necessarily mean
The wounds have stopped bleeding
I'm not a girl
Doesn't mean I haven't
Had my share of abuse
Just because
I'm not a child
Doesn't mean I am not
Fragile enough to cry
Just because
We've been abused
Doesn't always mean
We understand
Just because
I'm not crying now
Doesn't mean that
Next time I won't be
Just because
I'm still here
It doesn't necessarily mean
The wounds have stopped bleeding
Author notes
...This is kinda... hard to explain without sounding either too pompous or too humble. I mean it's pretty much about being the unlikely victim. I don't want to sound judgmental, but quite often if one doesn't fit the expected victim, one is often overlooked. Or maybe I'm just seeing things from the wrong perspective, I don't know.
