Our hairstyles are not the same; we’re of different races,
We talk in different languages, we live in different places.
In different situations we walk at different paces,
But we smile the same way when we see each other’s faces.
In this big country of United States,
Every leaf is different on the tree,
Every cloud has a different shape,
Even people in same family are unique.
We all look different, but we have the same hearts.
Some people have white, straight teeth, others wear braces,
One takes only lunchbox to his job, others drag briefcases,
We wear different clothes styles, hats and different shoe laces,
Our skin tones are different, but in songs we sing the same verses.
French, Irish, Dutch, Italian, and Latvian,
German, Greek, Korean, Swedish, and Ukrainian.
Turkish, Filipino, Armenian, Ukrainian,
Russian, Asian, African, Indian, or Mexican…
And after these we add with pride, “American”.
