Morning's Thought

The morning stars spoke secrets
fearless, and falling free
as the early risers saw the sunrise
between the hours where I sleep
and wake.

And when I wake, I pray
let me rise up with eyes wide open
to stare and really see
all the things she hides so deep inside
that she cannot tell to me;

Like the times I should whisper soft
  and when I should shout.
Or the times to wrap her gently in my arms
  or simply let her be.
Like when it is fear that quiets her voice
or sorrows that kiss her cheeks,
Like the way she loves the morning sun
  and I the moonlit scenes.

Open my eyes to know the secrets
that my lover loves to keep
so I might fill her glorious heart
    with everything she needs.

Author notes

I can't seem to do as well as I wish, but I will never stop trying, my love. Perhaps someday I will have the clarity of sight to be able to know you all through. And oh, how glorious of a day that shall be!

nice alliteration right off the bat. What song is this supposed to be based on though from the contest? Back to the poem, though. It can be so difficult just getting to know the people you already care so much for, trying to find out what they need and want. The effort in itself, though, shows that you care a great deal. I particularly liked the lines about the morning sun and moonlit scenes, and the last stanza was a great summation of it all. Thanks for sharing this and best wishes

Clarity, by John Mayer...sorry I didn't specify, I didn't remember seeing anything about doing so in the contest rules, so I just started writing
