Of any race or creed,
Animal, Vegetable or Mineral
Of any type or breed;
The impulse that infuses us,
Protect and care and feed",
May also be the end of us.
We know not of what they're the seed.
The beauty of all innocense
Deprived of "what will be"
Engenders mechanical goodness
Because, the future, most can't see.
So keep a cold-heart part of you
When it's cute puppy, tree or baby
For this being yet as you will learn
May eventually killed by society.
Author notes
I have discovered that the majority of people that oppose abortion think of the unborn fetus as pure good. I don't know how you can determine wether a fetus will tend towards Mother Teresa or Pol Pot. While I oppose the thought that abortion is a first solution to a problem and I doubt that most women finally choose that option without a terrible emotional struggle, it seems to me to be an unwarrented assumption that a fetus is somehow so pure that the woman bearing it is not important.
