Gone Orchedial

how shall we live, mere skin in the sun
like moistened aching sheathes,
as we watch one another pick flowers for the other

my heart fills, darkens, am shadowed orchid,
a silken curvy patience,
I capture the  flutters of butterfly sunlit streams,
for I am no daisy beneath your wizardry

or a mere mere rose with searching thorns so needful

I tremble inside you as glown light upon lips
your body sighs and the meadow shimmers, incandescent

lovely the moon flows upon dark ponds
where merry, daylit singing birds have flown through the night

but we, gone Orchedial, shall become each new dawn
its gather of our night sung dew

Author notes

Orchids are the flower of passion and love, not hybrid roses which run a distant second at best if at all. Orchids were given as the symbol of death by Europeans long ago as a result of the Calvinist terror for anything of romance or sensuality. Roses are not the symbol love, but are easier and cheaper to grow, and are simple in their overstated and flamboyant beauty, compared to the orchid’s rare, and subtle elegance, a divine beauty similar to that of natural wild roses, but much more sexual even though lacking in the romantic love of the Earth to be found in the spirit of the wild rose.

Orchis is supposed to have been the main ingredient of satyrion, the love food of those lecherous satyrs of Greek mythology, the Satyrs.

"For centuries, folklore has told that orchids are the flowers of love. A spray placed beneath the pillow is said to inspire dreams of one's future love. Concocted potions of orchids, slipped into a desired one's drink, are believed to result in a hopeless infatuation. Even the shape and fragrance of the orchids' intricate flowers seem to suggest an air of sensuality. Perhaps it is because of their inherent allure that they have earned the reputation as the flowers of amour. Of all the species coveted by plant lovers throughout the world, the orchids are the most loved. The absolute simplicity of their leaves contrasted by the elaborateness of their delicate flowers has been known to drive people into an orchid frenzy. Once you've been enchanted by an orchid, there is no escape." ... Kathleen McNary Wood, from Times Of The Islands, The International Magazine Of The Turks And Caicos Island ... Summer 2007

No one writes of flowers better than you do, Danny. Or of love, for that matter. Beautiful.

Wow I see so much symbolization of metaphors. I first must say you are a poet of wonder interesting me with your imagery metaphors and fansy symbolization. It seems as though this too can add to a novel of some sort because its too gorgeous of a poem.

as we watch one another pick flowers for the other" I understand this to mean as we try to care about each other and focus on one another

lovely the moon flows upon dark ponds
where merry, daylit singing birds have flown through the night

Why do I see this as we others having fun when their looking at theirselves...
    nice

though this may not be what is intended but these lines work for me to inspire me...
