Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
with feet planted, standing still.
Face aglow and glistening
with tears as wet as snow.
Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
branches reaching for angel on high.
held by chains of garland and pain,
crying to the Lord; why God, why!
Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
this holiday shall be your last.
Laid upon a blanket of flame,
your tragic end, unfit to pass.
with feet planted, standing still.
Face aglow and glistening
with tears as wet as snow.
Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
branches reaching for angel on high.
held by chains of garland and pain,
crying to the Lord; why God, why!
Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
this holiday shall be your last.
Laid upon a blanket of flame,
your tragic end, unfit to pass.
Author notes
Children are suffering from a hidden epidemic of child abuse and neglect. While 3 million reports of child abuse are made every year in the United States, experts estimate that the actual number of incidents of abuse and neglect is 3 times greater then reported.
While you celebrate the holidays this year please keep these young souls in your minds and in your prayers.
