She treasured every envelope,
the words inside imprinted upon her heart.
They had woven themselves
into a rich tapestry of hope,
where future's never die
and love was life's lighthouse.
Like the perfect movement
of a pendulum,
his promises were unwavering,
each letter a stepping stone
that kept them afloat,
until time gave them
its murmur of approval.
Now every piece of parchment was bare,
as every letter and word
had now drifted upon
autumn's breeze,
coming to rest
in an absurd collection
of dry and brittle hieroglyphics
that rippled gently away
upon the river of her tears.
It had taken one letter
to null and void
pledges made for a lifetime.

very nice, kinda like cutting down a tree...after hundreds ..it only takes one chop to fell it.

Well didn't this just turn into the darker side of life! There is a real sadness to this and the way love ends. I felt it right here in these words. Best to you in the contest

Stunning
Oh nice, I could tell you thought out of the box for this one, and left my muse ashamed (in a good way I promise!)
Actually I really like this title also, and this poem was definitely different than what I was expecting from this title.

Where did you come up with the above part?????
I would have never thought of that, describing in this
way you did, you should be proud.
Thank you for entering I enjoyed.
