The Sound of Drums

The drums they banged,
On and on, louder and louder,
Smothering the free thoughts of the people who dwelled,
In the huge land they call America.

The drums they feared,
And the people cried for them to stop,
With their ears bleeding of the sad tunes of their former lives,
And with tears in their eyes, they remembered life before the drums.

The drums controlled the thoughts of the people,
They screamed lies at them using friendly faces,
And trusted products,
And the people were put into false happiness.

And when the drums stopped beating,
America was thrust into chaos,
For the calmness of the world was lost,
In an ever so forgotten beating of the world going...
*thump. thump.. thump...*

Author notes

Ah yes, my Dr. Who inspired poem which I love still. The title of the poem is the episode that this poem is based on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sound_of_Drums

It is a great show and I suggest everyone should someday check it out!
