Letting go of the ordinary
Delving into my subconscious
I am swallowed in a heartbeat
Isolated from reality
Yet, somehow, free
of care and responsibility
Exploring this new found land
Existence seems to be twisted,
Though oddly familiar to me
With grass of the clearest blue
And blazing skies of fiery red
I could walk on water
And grow a tree in a second
All the foliage was edible,
And the sweetest roses held no thorns
Coming upon an ocean,
I found it contained no salt
Large, dolphin-like fish
Jumped for the stars
Catching them up like flies
While birds wheeled overhead
Careening in the shifting clouds
Flickers of light
Darted across my path
A discovery that left me puzzled
Though realization soon dawned
That they were naught but fairies
Prancing upon a soft, silken wind
I locked myself in this world
For years; or so it seemed
When finally I emerged one day
To find only a moment had passed by
And I still had to live
In the chaos we've created
