"American Soldier" wakes me
A reminder why I'm here
As I pull on my combat boots,
I think "Just half a year."
We finally hit the halfway point,
and that's what keeps me strong
Can't help but feel unneeded here
Feel like we don't belong
"We're here to aid our ROK allies"
Or so the COs say
"There is no truce 'tween North and South,
We could be attacked today."
And so I go about my job,
Feeling pointless still
Yes, North Korea could attack,
But I don't think they will.

I love powerful last lines in pieces and this one hit the note head on. Thank you for giving your life and your time in the military so I can sit here and be stupid. I respect what you are doing and pray to God we don't end up with Norrh problems also. Sharing your ideas about your military time is a wanderful thing and you have the education to go with it. What a beautiful combo. RC

BEAUTIFUL!!!!
One often wonders why so many times, especially when there doesn't seem to be an immediate reason for being there. I would like to believe that if we were that country who needed help would others like us come to our aid? I keep believing someone would, so I keep all men and women who are away in another country keeping people from harm in my prayers and pray they will succeed and come home safe.
