Christmas like years before,
Has returned,
Bringing joy and love to all of us,
Except me.
The noble fir standing in all its glory,
Just outside my room,
Decorated with ornamental balls,
Glimmering almost like the twinkle I once knew in your eyes.
Presents pile up on top of the Christmas tree skirt,
Adorned with tags bearing my name.
Material items don't mean a thing,
All I want is you.
Sitting by the windowsill I see snowflakes fall,
Hitting the roof and melting,
Like my heart once did,
Every time you kissed me under the mistletoe.
Daydreaming I make my Christmas lists,
Dear St.Nick,
I don't want anything more then,
For you to bring him back to me this December.
I'm not asking for tinsel and ribbons,
Nor a miracle,
I just need my love back.

You have been HOOD WINKED by The Poetic Bandits. Great use of the words in the word bank of this contest. Thoughts many of us have had over the years are well expressed in these lines. Not a miracle, just your love back.

I can imagine how hard it is losing your love and not having him at Christmas time. Nonetheless I do hope that this Christmas you feel the powers of friendship and can smile a little big.
Hugs,
Kari
