I've Been Waiting

i've been waiting
to step outside
in a world so wide
and look around

but im afraid
so i remain controlled
in my hole
under this mound

but i must leave
to explore
like never before
and hope to be safe and sound

so im waiting
taking my time
so i can unwind
and step out on open ground

just be patient
and maybe
you'll see me
cowering cause i can't be found

I like that you don't give us a specific meaning, because you're right, there are so many.

I like this, I think it flows well, but the line "and hope to be safe and sound" sticks out in the flow of the poem a little too much for me. I don't mean to be overly critical, but I'm a bit of a nit-picker!

    I like it!

I think some of us hide ourselves because we are not sure enough to take control of our lies, the past holds us back but we need to burst out of the cocoon and become what we need to be, it's never easy but we can make people see us C
