Ten Dollar High

He spent his whole life trying to forget her
Forgot the love they used to share
But her face still burned bitter
And the stranger beside her
Loving her ten dollar bottle of glitter
He always knew
Those satin sheets weren't made for sleep
And they didn't help
When he tried to weep
Propose a toast to the lie
That not even she could hide
She tried to drink her pain away
But all the drugs in the world
Couldn't make him stay
And those epitaphs will never lie
So she's dancing around in that antebellum dress
Dying to live and pass this test
But not even ghosts can hear his pleas
And not even ghost can hear her screams

Author notes

This poem is LOOSELY based off of both the song and the music video for Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisly and Allison Krauss. Note I say loosely, I don't do alot of fanfiction... and that includes fanpoetry. I only do those for books.
