I like to drink my coffee black
And smoke my harsh cigars
I like my ghetto bicycle
With brakeless handle bars
I like to slam my steel reserve
While sipping natty ice
And with low price, you're telling me
I'm living a cheap life
Well, here's for my black coffee
It's purer drank this way
With all of that caffeine you need
To make it through your day
I smoke my harsh cigars because
I think they have more spice
And I enjoy 'bout every beer
...Even natty ice
And here's to my cool bicycle
It's got no brakes, but see
The back is low so I can ride
Up hills more easily
So how 'bout you, how is your shit?
How much 'it set you back?
And can I ask, what would you like,
Cream, sugar or black?
And smoke my harsh cigars
I like my ghetto bicycle
With brakeless handle bars
I like to slam my steel reserve
While sipping natty ice
And with low price, you're telling me
I'm living a cheap life
Well, here's for my black coffee
It's purer drank this way
With all of that caffeine you need
To make it through your day
I smoke my harsh cigars because
I think they have more spice
And I enjoy 'bout every beer
...Even natty ice
And here's to my cool bicycle
It's got no brakes, but see
The back is low so I can ride
Up hills more easily
So how 'bout you, how is your shit?
How much 'it set you back?
And can I ask, what would you like,
Cream, sugar or black?
Author notes
I was sitting down with a pot of black coffee, about to finish a Flash project. This just popped into my head from nowhere, and I jumped online to get it out while it was still there.
Tear it apart. I'm not going to cry.

I'm constantly amazed at how well you handle flow and rhyme. Everything is so natural, so smooth, completely unforced. I really enjoy your writing. And this piece is certainly no exception. Very humerous, rather rebelious, temptingly logical, and delightfully spirited. Another splendid success.

This was a fun poem to read. You sound like such a rebel in this, even though there is nothing at all wrong with drinking black coffee or riding a bike without breaks on the handles.

haha i love this poem! i wish everyone could enjoy the simple things of life.

I think "bout every beer" is fine, it helps the poem flow nicely that way, and you have a good rythim going with this one. Your poetry is pretty good. I like how you make it flow so easily. I can do that sometimes, but there is always something about my poetry that people don't like. Anyways I am rambeling again I think, so I am going to stop now.

I like this. I like coffee and bikes and getting lost in old book stores in Ann Arbor and wait...I have to have sugar in my coffee, but other than that I think you penned a poem I can live with
Catch you later.
