Awakening Dec.2008
All life moves on,
There comes a time
To be on our way
When
Spirit has no more use
For mortal structure
In decay
When
Mother Earth waits patiently
For her children
To be fed
When
Those who once
Her children were
Must make their way to bed
While
A harvest moon
Upon the rise
Bears silent testimony
Unto
A newborn baby’s cries;
The plaintive sound
Of a mothers’ sighs
And
All of our hellos and goodbyes
Come down
To just one thing
From
Autumn’s gold, to winter’s snow
Seasons turn
For this they know
It’s just the way, we come and go
For
Death, will always bring
A new Awakening

A poignant, powerful and hopeful message, and I thank you for putting it so eloquently into words I could never find...until now.

I had an epiphany when I read this
What a wonderful piece. I had to read it three times, because each time I read it, I got even more out of it.
Not only have you used stunning imagery, for example "Autumn’s gold, to winter’s snow" but the rhyme scheme was no short of perfect and the result? A piece that flowed like a river. But the most powerful thing about this poem is the underlying message that at first, is ambiguous, and in the last two lines makes perfect sense - and yet the reader is still left asking questions! That, friend, is a remarkable talent.
I look forward to reading more of your work - do you mind if I add you as a favourite?
Jess

cool
"Bears silent testimony" what does that mean???
part from that it's created a mood, you background says it all -
-
It's like someone...
has witnessed something wonderful happening, y'know, maybe like watching the sunset, or the moon rise...and there are no words you can think of, if someone was standing next to you, you might look at each other and kinda smile...no words needed...something like that I guess
stay cool
John

Wow! I'm loving your background right along with your poem!!!! They are both awesomely beautiful!
"Death will always bring a new awakening" We come and we go...do we dare even mention the mystery we find ourselves caught in? Pam

-
-
Well...!
I'm glad I got this background right...lol
Do we dare indeed!
Perhaps,
why not
for as long as we live
we must dream
even if this life
Is only a dream...
