"If it be forever, forever shall I wait."
Murmured Analisa from the porch.
She sits in the shadow staring at the gate
from day into night lighten by a torch.
With a patient stare on the walk, hope burns true
awaiting the army to soon come home.
Whether the skies be greenish grey or a blue
she rocks on that porch watching alone.
Then one day another girl shyly steps near.
"May I ask why you sit here all the day?"
Analisa smiled saying to her "Come here
I'll tell you if again you pass this way."
So day after day analisa made friends
with the young lady who always came by.
Everyday she'd come to Analisa and lend
an ear to listen to her speak and cry.
"I await here because of the stories of old,
of a military man's lover.
She sat on this porch in the summer and cold
for his place was taken by no other.
"Her love for him was true remaining sweet and strong
even unto death she waited for he.
It is said she waits in spirit all the day long
until his soul comes to set her free.
"The tale says she will wait on this porch with you
if a love you have away at a war.
For she knows what your mind may be going through
she wants no heart alone anymore.
"And she shall wait with you till yours returns
and safely in his arms you are again.
It is said her devotion still firmly burns
she would wait her life years times ten."
The shy young girl sat with Analisa once more.
"Then together we will wait with her here."
The two sat together just as days before
waiting for their lovers to appear.
That one morn soon came for the young lady to leave
when her military man had come back.
It is for certain the girl would 'ever believe
the story told her when days were black
for with her Analisa had sat by the gate,
murmuring under the light of a torch
"If it be forever, forever shall I wait."
still awaiting her love from her porch.
Author notes
Well it's sort of dedicated to my Fiance who is going into the army and to my best friend whose love poems helped to give me this idea.

Nice. I like the reoccuring line. It's a little rough, but a really nice story. You know, of course, you'll have a happy end.
