Crawling

What demon casts upon the wall
this image of shadowy fright?
A ghoulish phantom traced in black,
that visits this Halloween night.

In girth and breadth it fills the hall
encompassing all in its path
doe it waits, a golem made
to avenge vindictive wrath?

Along these walls, does it move --
or is it the flickering flame?
Has it come to foreshadow death
or with an immediate aim?

Slowly it moves, grows as it crawls
surely it plans evil deeds --
and now I look before the flame
to where the creature now feeds!

My eyes are open to the sight
of something I can not believe
there on the floor the creature sits,
he squeaks and chews on his cheese.

This was appropriate. lol Somtimes things loom so large and seem frightening when in essence it's only something small. In my case with the something small being a rodent, I would much rather deal with shadowy beast.

So mice really frighten you. A rat I could see, but a cute little mouse? Little Mickey?

If sitting in the middle of a bed in a fetal position with a mouse in the other room consititutes frightened then yup, I'm terrified of meeses.

True story. I purposely omitted the rocking back and forth part so as not to seem entirely pathetic.

I know you much rather see moose than them thar peeples.

What? You don't hide under the sheets? Poor you. So do spiders freak you out? Because I almost sent you a poem about a spider...well it was really about trapping people in my web.

No problem with bugs, spiders, worms, grubs, you name it. I pick them up with my bare hands...no problem. Bees I'm leary of because of my allergy but we have an understanding for the most part. Just rodents mostly.

Didn't you once tell me you weren't fond of spiders?

I won't run from a spider but I won't pick one up either.

If I see them in the house, I pick them up and put them back outside.

I really think we had this conversation before.

                      It does sound familiar.

I bet this one won't sound familiar. Would you let a barn owl live in your hair? I mean, If you had a big Amy Winehouse, Marge Simpson type hairdoo?

I have an understanding with owls. I don't think it would be a problem.

Bats I would think twice about since they're like flying rodents.
