Because

There’s something about early evening strolls
Evergreens aglow with a nearly clear sky
Loam’s aroma mixing with the rising tune of dusk
Lilting calls
Interned in begging ears
Night eyes opening to pull at the heavy moon
Glittering under the stars as they chase the sun away
Tell you something true?
Have I ever lied to you other than by omission?
Evergreens nodding gently in the breeze
Tasting the fall of summer into winter’s grasp
Regret is the last leaf to fall
Under the shroud of the first snow
Tumbling earthward to where it did belong below
Hungry for purpose beyond the changing of light
Deft pawprints scampering through the snow
Ever wonder where such pitter-patterings go?
Mayhap some world forgotten and lost below
Amid the dreams of those who napped beneath the since faded summer sun
Nodding evergreens, ever green, breathe easily amongst the toes of the sky
Dreams drifting up into the night
Snow slipping down through rising dreams
Regret is the first snowflake to fall
Ever walked amongst snow hugged evergreens?
Silence akin to God’s peace
Prevails
Over the hill and through the ever green wood
No seasonal memory does more than pretend to be
Something concerning what I’d rather say
Interned in winter’s peaceful grasp
Beneath white bearing trees
Imbibing bold winter’s breeze
Let God’s Will be done, but
I’d rather
Tell
You in person
