Permission Slips

Write me a ticket to sanity,
which turns the world
into a dream
and transforms tears into smiles.

Show me where
I can cash in
this slip
for a passage
on thrill ride
that doesn’t end in accidents.

Give me a map
to reveal the booth
where that passport
bypasses ruins,
granting me freedom
not requiring wounds.

Even if the ink should vanish
because it was only painted
with your lips,
just pen another set of images
on its paper,
till I believe their really is
permission in life
providing other than a path
walking barefoot
across broken glass.

Author notes

Buffy: Does it ever get easy?
Giles: You mean life?
Buffy: Yeah. Does it get easy?
Giles: What do you want me to say?
Buffy: Lie to me.
Giles: Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after.
Buffy: Liar.

Oh wow this is wonderful. The metaphors and imagery are just perfect, the write is succinct and fots the prompt brilliantly. I think I enjoyed this one of yours the most of recent times, not that they aren't all brilliant!!
Love your last 2 lines, but then you are an expert at finishing a poem just as strongly as you start it.
All the best with this bro.
