One Day...

One day I was alone
And a guy came along.
He swept me off my feet
And looked me in the eyes.

I could see the love and joy
Just pouring from his own.
He wanted to be with me
And he never wanted to leave.

We spent our time together
Learning about the two years
That we had spent away from the other.
I learned so much about him.

One day when he was next to me,
He took my hand in his
And whispered something in my ear:
"I love you."

My heart beat faster than it should have
And my whole body started to shake.
My smile split my face in two
And I whispered them back to him.

He took me in his arms
And told me he would never let go.
He kept me warm when I was cold
And held me when I was sad.

One day when he was holding my hand,
He leaned over and told me to look at him.
I turned my head and looked in his blue eyes.
Next thing I knew I couldn't breath.

His lips touched mine
Ever so gently.
His arms wrapped around me
Pulling me closer to him.

I was kissing him back
And I was trying to focus
On keeping myself from fainting.
I was starting to hyperventilate.

One day when we were together,
He slipped me a note
Kissed me and gave me a hug.
He told me he had to go.

He left me standing there,
The paper sitting in my hand.
The ring he had given me
Sitting on my right ring finger.

I opened the folded paper
And read the first sentence.
I crumpled the note in my fist.
Tears were threatening to pour from my eyes.

One day when I was standing all alone,
My eyes filled with tears
As I thought of how he loved me.
He had held me close and kissed me dearly.

He loved me for who I was
And he told me I was beautiful.
I knew with all my heart
That I could never stop loving him.

We weren't together
And hadn't been for a while.
I missed him so much
But there was nothing I could do.

One day when I was sitting in a corner,
I heard the footsteps come towards me.
I looked up from my hands
And saw him standing in front of me.

"I'm sorry I ever hurt you,
And I never want to do it again."
He held out his hand to me
And I hesitantly reached up to take it.

"You broke my heart, you know,
And I don't know how you were able to leave me."
He told me he loved me
And he hadn't wanted to end it.

One day he walked up to me
And he told me to follow him.
I took his hand in mine
While he pulled me down the street.

We stopped just inside a quiet place.
The lights surrounded us
And the soft music floated around the room.
He dropped slowly down onto one knee.

My heart sped up like it had before.
My knees knocked together
And my whole body was shaking
As he pulled a small box out of his pocket.

He opened it to reveal a small ring.
"I love you, forever,
So, Will you be mine forever?"
His eyes looked up at me hopefully.

One day I called this man at work.
"You should come to the hospital now,"
I said and hung up.
He arrived ten minutes later.

Holding my hand in his,
He held our baby daughter,
Looking down on her with loving eyes.
Then he looked at me.

"I know I hurt when so long ago,"
He started to explain.
I shook my head, smiling.
"I love you," I whispered.

One day we will be all alone together
Without all the noise to fill the house
And we can sit and talk
Holding eachother's hand.

But right now,
We have to think of our kids.
We have two girls and three boys
And if this man hadn't returned to me......
