Gone tangent

        I. Off on a tangent

Lets say there was a point
      called peace.
A given point like in math
and if you’re not on it
      you’ve gone tangent.

    Always able to touch it
      but at an angle somewhere
      aslant in ones thoughts.

      A metaphysical axiom
      for one
        or all.

        II. A period on time

    There ain’t no salvation possible
      for those gone tangent.
Which isn’t to say they’re irredeemable
since they all know the point of peace.

But if I was the one to have to harness
      them all back on point,
I’d say, “uh uh, no way. Not me.
They can do their own math,
      thank you very much.”

I ain’t got the time to bother with it.

              III. Save the world

An instant teller once told me of a future
      to behold
where I would change the world one day.

This fired me up for a time
since I saw what she meant
        and knew it was true
fueling my ego with petrol to burn.

I made sure to tell everyone about it too
      until no one cared anymore
        myself included.

Doing the math got me back on track again
and the yin to that yang is not trying to
        change anything  but rather
continuing on point as I am.

All the rest of you can be damned
for all I care. You know the way
        the same as me.

        IV. And the truth is…

I don’t have no fucking tribe,
          man.
    No group set apart
    from my point of view.

  Though I am congruent
    with like minded thinkers,
    I have friends everywhere
    because that’s what peace gives.

Even those off on a tangent,
though I come at them from the light
often times blinding them on the spot.
  The light is the light
and we get along just fine.

If peace were to have a beginning point
I guess I can find it

Author notes

I don't know, but this makes sense to me. I'm not fan of war, or of many things that take place on our planet. But I am a fan of life, and choose to live it according to tenets which have proven themselves to me. They have become "givens" in my world, and I act accordingly.

Years ago I did have a psychic tell me that I would change the world, or affect the world. I've had a couple others "verify" this as well, though these did so on their own without my asking them. (I used to work at a metaphysical/new age type of magazine, and got to hang out with psychics quite frequently. They can be an odd bunch!)
I have since come to realize that changing the world can have differing meanings, whereas only my intent and will can change the way I see the world. This too then "changes" the world, but from a personal perspective. Outside, everything remains the same.

Anyway, my take on the "universal soldier" is more along the lines of the strong, silent types who actually do bring peace to those they touch. I strive to be one of those...and to hell with the rest of you. lol

    I Like This

Indeed, there is the altruistic approach. You make me wonder if all the words, epiphets I hurl into the microphones to DEMAND peace are not themselves, warlike.
Self-examination is good. A quiet, generous demeanor is inandof it'self a peaceful slogan.

    Thought provoking.

I liked those lines and I think peace is the most important ingrediant to human growth on a societal lvel.

    Well done and good luck

Let there be peace on earth...

...and let it begin (and end) with You. We are all tangential to the only Point, lost inthe figment of our straightness and direction, reaching out for that place of contact where we all meet...sweet peace. When we know we all touch, we know we are Peace.

    Write on, brother, write on...

'Tis ALWAYS the season...each (this) moment is the reason... peace is the place from which we all grow....

        Be peace, soldier, be peace

It all has to begin somewhere, with someone. And some people need a picture drawn to draw from. So...peace my friend. And more power to you.It absolutely makes perfect sense to me.
