I ponder at the doorway
Unsure if I should sneak inside
The wood beneath my scales
I slither inside so I can hide
And dig a hole in the cozy floor
Wild animals must be silent in here
Can't wake the humans as they sleep!
It's warm, but I still fear
The humans are still near
Now I live in a nice, clean drawer
At least it's not a tree,
That's no place for me to be!
A supply of mice filled with lice,
Scurrying below, but it's all right.
Somebody's coming,
I'd better leave real quick,
Don't wanna get sick -
I hear stomping of the shoes -
No time to lose!
Through the messy room,
Out the door,
Oh, wait - There's more!
The doorknob's out of reach,
I let out a screetch
Get kicked out of that cozy home...
Now I'm stuck out here alone,
I turn and see the shingles shine,
But I have to go, I have no time
I guess it's time for me
To go back to a tree. :'(
